PURPOSE: The Substance Abuse Prevention and Education for Minors class is designed to help prevent alcohol and drug use from becoming a problem by assisting underage individuals through education on the risks of continued alcohol/drug use.
PROCEDURE: SAPEM is a four-hour class. The class consists of discussion, educational videos, and activities that provide up to date education on the risks and potential consequences of drug/alcohol use.
ACCESS/REFERRAL: After an individual is cited for a Minor In Possession or Minor In Consumption offense and the case is filed, the court will order the individual to contact ADSAP to enroll in the class. Minors that are “at risk” of law enforcement contact due to drug/alcohol use may be referred to the program by the parent/guardian.
Classes are held on a monthly basis with locations rotating between Pittsburg, Parsons, and Riverton. The class is offered for Spanish speaking individuals in Pittsburg only.
FEES: $55.00 paid by cash or money order at the time of the class.
