Adult Psycho Social Treatment Group

PURPOSE: Family Life Center’s Adult Psycho-Social Treatment Group assists individual’s with serious and persistent mental illness to alleviate social isolation, develop supportive relationships, and to learn necessary activities of daily living. Persons are also educated about and practice basic health care, functional leisure activities, and encouraged to practice social skills in a variety of community settings.

PROCEDURE: Staff members provide a safe, supportive and stimulating group environment where group members can address the psychological and social issues that prevent them from feeling comfortable in participating in their communities and society as a whole. The group helps individual members become aware of and alter attitudes, thoughts, feelings and behaviors that create barriers to recovery. Social skills are taught, discussed and practiced in a variety of community settings.

FEES: Fees are reimbursed by Medicaid and supplemental state funding for those who qualify. Otherwise, fees are adjustable based on a sliding fee scale according to income and member of dependents living the home.

ACCESS/REFERRAL: Referral to the Psycho Social Treatment Group is made by the primary therapist, case manager and treatment team as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Once an individual is referred to the group, facilitators meet with the person and assess their strengths and needs. Group activities are scheduled according to the need and desires of the group as a whole.
